Melbourne Maithri

Melbourne Maithri was started by a group of like minded people originating from Kerala in India.  Life in Australia is easy and we integrated into the develped society very easily and found our own place in the community.  Our kids enjoyed everything that Australia has to offer and thrived.  The only thing we miss is the rich culture, traditional festivities and gatherings which were part of our childhood growing up in Kerala.  

 

The purpose of starting this group is to bring that tradition and culture to the our kids growing up in a western society so that they understand their roots and value their identity and understand the rich values that we stand for.  The key mission was to conduct events to celebrate our traditional festivals and events across all religions and backgrounds.  

 

A participative group was envisioned so that every one got the oppotunity to be a real part of the festivities which would have been difficult if we had joined any other larger group.
